What is a Bottle Steriliser

A bottle sterilizer is a type of equipment that helps you sterilize your baby’s bottles using a more accurate, temperature and time controlled manner.

While many parents still sterilize a baby’s bottle using more traditional methods, such as cleaning the bottle by hand and then boiling it in a pan of boiling or hot water, the bottle sterilizer does it with more precision and accuracy.

Bottle sterilizers are mainly of three types:

  1. Cold water bottle sterilizer
  2. Microwave bottle sterilizer
  3. Electric steam bottle sterilizer

Cold water sterilizer

For this option, you have to use sterilizing tablets or liquids, as well as a strong plastic container that has a lid. Once you prepare the sterilizing solution as directed on the packaging, you have to soak in the bottle and its parts for at least 30 minutes. You can also reuse this sterilizing solution as many times as you require, for up to 24 hours. Once you take out the items from the solution, you first have to rinse them in boiled water and then use.

Microwave bottle sterilizer

This does not require any sterilizing liquid or tablets or any other chemicals. It uses the steam method to kill off any germs or bacteria that may be present in the bottle or its many parts. Most microwave bottle sterilizers keep the bottles sterilized for up to 24 hours if it is secured with a lid. It takes about three to eight minutes for the sterilization to happen.

Electric steam bottle sterilizer

This also does not require any sterilizing liquid or tablets or any other chemicals. All you have to do is plug it in the wall and the steam kills the bacteria or germs. The process can take about six to 15 minutes and bottles will be sterile for up to 24 hours if secured with a lid.
